"A Wikispace, in simple terms, is a group of web pages with “edit” buttons on them. You can collaborate with anyone you choose on your wikispace. You may want a place to keep information about your organization, or to easily manage your team's schedules." Source
Teachers should select a private label K-12 site.
You should decide before you start whether you want your wikispace to be
public or private; (Private wikis will not be viewable unless visitors have a membership.)
editable or locked; (You can choose to control all edits yourself, open it to selected members to edit, or allow any visitor to edit pages.)
a site with discussion pages. (You can have one discussion board for the whole site, or a separate discussion board attached to each page.)
Students will need a Wikispace account if you want them to do more than just see your site. Before setting up accounts for students, refer to Usernames & Passwords.

What's the Difference Between a Wiki and a Blog?
A blog is ideal for entries that are posted in final form, with new entries added to a long list of older entries. A wiki is ideal for posting information that will be revised or updated as time goes on, with the newer information replacing the older. Once blog entries are posted, they are generally fixed and open to comment; wiki pages are works-in-progress, typically evolving over time.
How Do WIkis Differ from GoogleDocs?
Wikis can have many pages with the same look and links from page to page. GoogleDocs are ideal for single documents with multiple authors, but linking one GoogleDoc to another and maintaining a certain look and feel would be more difficult. Wikis have a simpler web address (good for sharing your work or student work with the world), while GoogleDocs are easier to keep private (good for sharing between students working on a project or a student sharing work online with a teacher).
Wikispaces offers easy web-page creation and hosting, collaborative editing and hypertext linking.
